Mike Sullenger

Class of 1966

Mike is a career veteran of the United State Air Force having served twenty plus years. He started as an enlisted member and retired in the rank of Major. Mike is also a career martial artist. Many remember his involvement while in high school at Lincoln. Today he holds the rank of 9th Degree Black Belt, is the Chief Instructor of the American Karate System (an international organization) and was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame during ceremonies held in Anaheim, California in August of 2008 at the Masters Hall of Fame Banquet and induction ceremonies. Mike is currently an associate professor teaching American and Texas Government and Criminal Justice. Since 1971, after returning from a four year tour of enlistment in the Air Force, Mike began his career in law enforcement while attending Pan American University where he earned is Bachelor's Degree. During his second tour in Germany, after returing to active military duty upon graduation from Pan Am, Mike earned an MS degree from Troy State University, Troy, Alabama. Over the past forty years of law enforcement (both military and civilian) Mike has served as an assistant chief three times and chief of police twice. Mike is also a writer and has had numerous articles published, as well as co-authoring a chapter on Texas Government for a text book publishing company.
