Mark Douglas Clement died peacefully in Oakland on
January 3, 2017, after a protracted and courageous battle
with cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years, Lisa, sons Chris (Lauren), Kyle (Melissa), Connor and daughter Stephanie, plus grandchildren Owen, Grace, Finley, Campbell, and Christian. Sisters Barbara (Dan) Fairchild, and Kathleen Hubbard, many loving, relatives, friends and his Hilton family. He was pre-deceased by parents Robert and Grace Clement.
He was born in Jamestown, New York May 12, 1950, and spent most of his childhood in Vero Beach, Florida. He attended Vero Beach High school, and Florida State University where he received a degree in Hotel
Management/Business. He started his 41-year career with
Hilton first as Director of Catering in Atlanta, then the Director of Food and Beverage at the Washington Hilton, and afterwards the Resident Manager at the McLean Hilton, before finally settling at the Oakland Airport Hilton, where he served as General Manager for the last 25 years. He was a board member of the Oakland Chamber of Commerce and Alameda Boys and Girls Clubs. After his family and work, his passions included coaching youth sports, umpiring, Florida State football, and telling stories that could easily last all night.
