About | Vickie Lyn Nixon was born on January 22, 1950 in Los Angeles, California to Al Nixon and Nadine Fawcett, both Venice High School graduates. In her senior year at Venice High School, Vickie was a Varsity Cheerleader. She graduated in the summer of 1967 with the Les Uniques class. Many of you may know her brother, S70 Bob Nixon. ???? ???? On April 28, 1973 Vickie married Venice High Summer 1968 alumni Tom Swan. ?? Below is a beautiful tribute to Vickie written by her daughter. Thank you for honoring my mother, Vickie L Swan. She was a very strong and independent woman who always put others first. She dedicated her life to her 3 children (Jason, Deena and Jeff) and her 9 grandchildren (Dean, Jake, Mareena, Carson, Ella, Chase, Shayne, Jordyn, and Lucy). She was very involved with her church and after 24 years of working for the Long Beach Unified School District, in 2012 she retired. Unfortunately, the week she retired is when she found out she had cancer. She battled for 8 long years and never complained and always had a positive outlook. She helped many others during their cancer journey as well and used to speak to new patients at the cancer center she received treatment in. She was always giving encouraging messages and would take cookies and treats to the staff. During the summer of 2019, she took her whole family (16 of us!) on a trip of a lifetime -- a Disney cruise to the Bahamas. We had a blast and enjoyed that time together so much! Her greatest joy was spending time with family, and watching her grandchildren do the activities and things they loved. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will live on through the rest of us. She will forever be remembered in our hearts and memories. Thank you, Deena |

Just read this post - very sorry to read she passed (a few years ago.) I remember her as a studious and somewhat quiet person, never really got to know her very well. But I do remember her.
