About Me	A Katja defining moment: While skiing down a double-black run at Alpental, Katja (while wearing her Ski Patrol parka) decides to annoy her sister by chanting, "Ski! Ski! I like to ski!" As she chants this, she speeds along a narrow path between a hillside and a tree and fails to notice that at the base of the tree, there is a tree trunk sticking about 2 feet out of the snow. Her ski catches, she is wrenched around 180 degrees and tossed down the hill a few feet below the tree. As she falls, she yells, "whoa!" and as she comes to a stop (sprawled all over the snow), she says, "I just hit a tree!" Katja then pushes herself up, looks around for her sister, who is looking a little worried, and of all the things she could have said to the on-looking public to excuse her folly, counter her embarrassment, or explain that not all ski patrollers are this inept; and of all the things she could have done to reassure her sister that she is okay and still has all her limbs intact, Katja excitedly says, "I ...(read more)
