About Me	Hang in there, everybody!! I've loved connecting and/or reconnecting with everybody ... For tennis and other sports news, with an emphasis on Coastal (i.e. Hampton Roads) and Central Va., follow dailypress.com, my blog at dailypress.com/dearth-blog and twitter.com/sdearth. Working in media helped me overcome shyness. I'd still like to be more outgoing, though. If you're not sure where I am, check the tennis court. I'm a volunteer assistant tennis coach in an ideal setting at Christopher Newport University, with fantastic coaches and players. I write feature stories for tennisrecruiting.net and plan to run a big junior tournament on its new National Series in the summer of 2013. (The info below has no bearing on my editorial decisions, which are first based on what I think our Peninsula readers want): Among my likes in sports (many of which suit my skill set as an editor): Tennis; high schools; colleges; baseball; NFL; NHL; NBA. Sport I like to play but don't watch regularly (except majors, Kingsmill and Ryder Cup): Golf. Sports I rarely watch: Pro wrestling; figure skating. Among my favorite teams: CNU, Varina, JMU, VCU men's basketball and the Peppas, Atlanta Braves (my favorite pro team in any sport), Green Bay Packers (I'm one of the hundreds of thousands of their part-owners), Washington Redskins, Washington Capitals, San Antonio Spurs, Richmond Flying Squirrels. I try to stay neutral in the UVA-VT rivalry, but for the most part, I like 'em both. I'm a major political watcher, and you won't find a bigger fan of writer Kathleen Parker outside her family. Favorite TV shows (non-sports division): Jeopardy!, American Greed; Out Front with Erin Burnett; Mystery Detectives; Power, Privilege and Justice; The Investigators.
