About	Leon Austin Shahayda, age 67, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Leon was born on October 19, 1957, in Louisville Kentucky, to the late Al and Helen (Embry) Shahayda. Leon was a 1976 graduate of Valley High School. He retired from CSX Railroad as a Locomotive Engineer after 41 years of service in the industry. Leon was a Free Mason with Sunset Lodge #915, a Kosair Shriner and a member of their Street Machines Car Club, as well as a member of the “Chicken Eaters Car Club”. He enjoyed working on and showing classic cars. Leon was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He loved spending time with his car buddies, and going on Caribbean Cruises with Debbie, his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years, and seeing new places and making new friends. Leon felt the most joy spending time with his family and friends. Among those who preceded him in death are his parents; stepmother, Billie Shahayda; siblings, Michael, James, Paul and Diana as well as nephew, Daniel. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Debbie; children, Derek (Kate) and Monica Shahayda; and a grandson, Gunnar; his brother, Vincent (Colleen); stepsister, Becky Perkins (JR); sister-in-law, Kathy Shahayda; nieces, Amy and Andrea Shahayda; nephews, Patrick (McKenzie) and Morgan (Alexis); and a host of other family and friends. Funeral service were held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, Mt. Washington (123 Winning Colors Drive, Mt. Washington, Kentucky) with burial at Highland Memory Gardens.
