My oldest brother, Albert Michael "Mike" Shahayda passed away from colon cancer in Palm Springs, California on August 28, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Rademaker) Shahayda - Valley Class of 1968 - and his daughter Amy Shahayda. They both reside near Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley of Southern California. Mike joined the Air Force after high school, serving as a bomb technician with the B-52s out of Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi. After initial enlistment, he mustered out of the Air Force and returned to Louisville. He hired on with the Bell System and was trained as a cable splice technician. After the break-up of "Ma Bell", Mike became a private telephony contractor and moved his family west to California where opportunities abounded for telephony work. It would be Mike's career until his death in 2000. - Vincent Shahayda - Valley Class of 1971
