Wardell died of pancreatic cancer in 2003. At Valley, he was class president, played trumpet in band and small groups, sang in the choir and small groups and was in several plays. He is survived by his wife and 3 children. He lived in Mason City, IA and was an opthomologist there. He is dearly missed by siblings Carole, Mary and Chris.
