There have been many exceptional scholars, sports players and all round great people who have attended Valley High School. But one person who rises to the top in all categories is Bob Haney. He graduated six years before me, but the legend was well established by the time he graduated. In addition to being an exceptional human being, Bob excelled in all that he did. And when it came to sports, Bob was blessed with superb talents in basketball. Scoring over 2,000 points during his career (as calculated by the late Ron Partridge), Bob went on to be the Captain of the University of South Carolina basketball team on a full scholarship. Growing up, we all wanted to be like Bob. Unfortunately, there is not even a photo of Bob at the High School. What an oversight!
