| About Me | I subscribe to the philosophy of the Renaissance I would rather be good in many things than a master of only one. If life offers a gift I wish to partake of it. So, for me, life is just one grand adventure after another. The “success”/“failure” dichotomy means nothing to me. That is just Fate! II is the struggle that counts. I had a very gratifying academic career as a theoretical biologist, clinical periodontist, orthodontist and published author.. I invented numerous clinical protocols and I am gratified that my work is in five textbooks. But enough is enough! My ambitions are now directed toward physical fitness and family affairs. In 2010 I decided to get less academic. So I quit the UCLA appointment and became more physical. I am a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and fight 4-5 days per week. It’s excellent physical training and as much fun as any competitive sport without dangerous high impact. Thank God for that decision. I was COVID’s “Patient Zero” in Utah during a fishing trip to the Provo river. But thanks to my jiu-jitsu conditioning, I lived through 5 months on oxygen supplements while 3 others in ICU died....(read more) |
