Born on March 30, 1980, in Valley Center, California, U.S., Billy Cundiff is a notable alumni of Valley Center High School. Known for his career as an American football placekicker, he became a significant figure in the sporting world.

His career started in high school at Harlan Community in Harlan, Iowa. He went on to play in college for Drake from 1998 to 2001, where he broke five Pioneer Football League (PFL) records, including most points (284), field goals (49), and points after touchdowns (137). One of his remarkable achievements during his college days was making a PFL-record 62-yard field goal as a junior in 2000 against the University of San Diego. Besides his football career, he was also a part of the Drake University Men's Basketball team.

Following his successful college career, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys in 2002. Throughout his professional career, Cundiff played for multiple teams, including Dallas Cowboys from 2002 to 2005, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, where he played from 2009 to 2011, Washington Redskins, San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills.

During his NFL career, Cundiff attempted a total of 239 field goals, successfully scoring 182, with a success rate of 76.2%. His longest field goal was an impressive 56 yards. He earned various accolades, including being named First-team All-Pro and receiving the Pro Bowl and Golden Toe Award in 2010. He was also a four-time First-team All-PFL from 1998 to 2001.
