Robert E. Grote, 59, of North White Plains, died on April 6, 2006. Born, December 7, 1946 in White Plains to the late Pauline Marko and James W. Grote. On June 27, 1976 he married Gloria Marriott in St. Catherine's Church in Pelham, NY. In addition to Gloria he is survived by four godchildren; Nicole, Michelle, Lisa Marie and Jake. He is also survived by two brothers; Richard E. Grote, Joplin, MO and James W. Grote, Jr., Minot, ND, eleven nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a niece, Cheryl Lynn. He was a lifelong resident of Valhalla and attended Valhalla High School. He was a landscaper for Michael Bellantoni, Inc. in White Plains, NY for 38 years. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War for a tour of duty from 1966 1967. He received a Bronze Star for Heroism, four Purple Hearts and was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB).
