Class of 2003

Katie Mihaiu (pronounced Me-high), 2003 graduate of Utica High School, went to win two NCAA National Cheerleading Championships in 2010 & 2011 while attending Morehead State University in Ketucky.

Katie's terrific tumbling and basing skills while at Utica High are still remembered and helped to take her Utica High squad to two MCCA State Championships under coach Andrea Layman-Cairns & Jill Erfourth. She took those skills to Central Michigan University where she cheered for 4 years making two appearances at the NCAA (UCA) finals in Orlando as a member of the Coed competitive cheer team .

Upon graduation from CMU, Katie continued her education at Morehead State where she has now completed her Masters Degree in School Counseling. While at Morehead State, Katie made the cheer team helping her all-girl cheer teams take home 1st place in 2010 & 2011... coached by Tony Nash & Bill Mayo respectively.
Katie can be found dead center waving her left hand at the completion of the final stunt.

Katie has a younger brother, Nicholas Mihaiu who also excelled at Utica High. Nick is currently the only two time winner of the Macomb County tournament. Nick twice made his presense known at the State finals qualifying as an individual. He placed 8th in the State in 2006 and was awarded All-State Honorable Mention honors. Nick was a four-time first team All-County selection.
