John Patrick Grunert Obituary
John Patrick Higgins Grunert, 72, of Pinetop, Arizona, passed away peacefully February 17, 2024 with family by his side. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 18, 1951. He grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and in his early adulthood entered the United States Air Force and served in Viet Nam. Upon his return, he relocated with the love of his life, Cynthia Cole, to Arizona. They married in June 1974, and together raised their three sons, James, Ryan, and Aaron. His passion in life was nature and construction which he pursued professionally as an owner licensed contractor in the state of Arizona for many decades, beautifying the desert.
On a personal level, his compassion was love for God and his family which preceded all else. His passion for sports followed him through all the years of his life. He played in men’s basketball leagues and in later years found the love for golf. You would have thought those golf courses were created just for him. He had a special place in his heart for his golf buddies, whether it be his sons, wife, grandchildren, young buddies, or old buddies and men’s clubs from desert to mountains where he and his wife settled in for retirement. He embraced his children and grandchildren every chance he got, bragging and smiling from ear to ear. His true love was being a family man, embracing activities.
He traveled many adventures with family and loved ones, leaving a multitude of memories. He was everyone’s happy soul and smiled his way to heaven, to God.
We will miss you, John Patrick. Rest in peace until we are joined again.
Honorable mention: Wellness and Learning Summit, His forever M6 cherished childhood friends.
