Carol, the daughter of Waldron & Francis Townsend, along with older brothers, Jerry & Bill, lived close to Osage in the oilfield. Carol attended Upton Schools.
Carol’s funeral was at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spearfish, SD on January 29, 2024. Her obituary can be seen at

Carol and I were lifelong friends, and it is with great sadness that I have to tell her goodbye. Carol was a wonderful caring, fun person and she will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. For many years, Carol, Judy Hagerman Ludemann and I, along with our husbands, had an annual get together each summer at the Buffalo Jump Steakhouse in Beulah, SD. I’m so privileged to have called her my good friend, and will always treasure many happy memories.
