Denny was married to his high school sweetheart, Barbara Maxwell.
Denny was Co-Captain of the 1955 USHS Rams undefeated football team in the NOL league winning all 9 scheduled games. He farmed with his father and owned Gerber Performance (Go-Carting). Denny volunteered with the American Red Cross. He was a coach for many years with the Upper Sandusky Midget League Football Association.
