About Robert Hoke Obituary

Robert Dean 'Bob' Hoke
Aug. 15, 1941 - Feb. 14, 2018
Robert "Bob" Hoke passed away quietly at his home in Lake Oswego, at age 76 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born in Oswego, Kan., on the family farm to the late Ralph and Mable (Restivo) Hoke. The family moved to Ontario, Calif., in 1951 then to Temple City, Calif., and Upland, Calif.
To those who knew him, Bob seemed larger than life; his mischievous grin could light up a room. He was a marvelous storyteller, had a passion for cooking and loved spending time with his many friends entertaining or just hanging out watching Jeopardy, football, or listening to music. A 1959 graduate of Upland High School, he was an accomplished athlete and held the record in pole vault for many years. In 1969 he graduated from San Jose State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering/Nuclear Specialty and moved into executive positions in marketing and general management for Hewlett-Packard then managed Tektronix's Printer Division, before becoming president and CEO of Sidereal in Beaverton, then nView in Newport News VA. In 1987 he co-founded Kinetic Technology Solutions, a computer training company, which he co-managed concurrently with his other roles. But most of all, Bob brought joy and laughter to all who knew him and in doing so, made the world a better place.
Bob is survived by his brother, James Hoke of Upland, Calif.; long-time companion, Karen Hix of Beaverton; extended family members and scores of close friends.
A private Celebration of Life has been held. Memorial gifts may be made to the OHSU Knight Cancer Center.
