The Adjutant General's Corps, formerly the Adjutant General's Department, is a branch of the United States Army first established in 1775. This branch provides personnel service support by manning the force, providing human resources services, coordinating personnel support, Army band operations, and recruiting and retention. The objective of the Adjutant General Corps is to "maximize operational effectiveness of the total force by anticipating, manning, and sustaining military operations. HR support operations accomplish this by building, generating, and sustaining the force providing combatant commanders the required forces for missions and supporting leaders and Soldiers at all levels." Donna R. Smith has served at multiple position levels as a Leader, Team Lead, Senior Human Resources Specialist, Management and Program Analyst, Contract Management Support Officer, Budget Analyst, Manpower Analyst, Financial Management Analyst and Program Analyst throughout various Army Organizations, including the U.S. Army Aviation Systems Command; U.S. Army Reserve Personnel Command, G1/G8; HQ U.S. Army Human Resources Command, G8; U.S. Army Installation Management Command, G8 & G9; U.S. Army Futures Command (AFC) and The Office of the Secretary of Defense. Additionally, she served over 10 years in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Military Personnel Management and Human Resources Specialist, RCPAC and 102nd ARCOM.

I served in the Dental Corps after dental school and rose to the rank of O-6 Colonel. I enjoyed duty in Georgia, Kentucky, Texas, Missouri, and Germany. Through the military, I enhanced my skills and knowledge through a 1-year general dentistry residency program, a 2-year comprehensive dentistry residency, and a 2-year fellowship in hospital dentistry.

I served a decade of honorable service in my beloved United States Marine Corps. I graduated Platoon 2046, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA, July 15, 1988. I was assigned to 2nd Radio Battalion as an 0151, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Afterwards, I served at III Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Courtney. I was hand picked to work on General Ehlert Staff and was his back up driver. After my year of duty was up, I was selected for I&I Duty, MEPS stationed downtown St. Louis. I assisted the Recruiters and provided admin support. After my time served I got stationed at Los Pulgas, California at 11th Marines Artillery Regiment. Served as Admin and Legal Chief. I also served on Cobra Gold deployment to Thailand in 92. I have been awarded a Navy Achievement, Good Conduct with 2 bronze stars, National Service Defense Medal and a number of ribbons plus more personal awards. Started at E1 and promoted to Sergeant, E-5. My service to this nations was impeccable and with honor.
