July 1962 to July 1962. Missed being extended for 6 months and going to Nam by one day. 1 month in Naval Hospital in San Diego after Boot Camp. Infected thumb. Served 13 months in Far East-Okinawa, Fuiji Japan, Hong Kong, Phillippines, Taiwan. Back to S. Cal. Including cold weather training in Feb in the Sierra mountains of central Cal.
Quit the phone company in Cal. in 1967 and rejoined the Marines. Was in Nam late 1967-1968. TET, Phu Bai, Operation Pegasus-opening road to Khe Sanh.
