Joined the Navy in 1987, 12 years after graduation. Retired from the Navy in 2011 as a Chief Petty Officer after over 23 years of loyal service.

Ralph Eldon Blackford
Class of 1939
Navy, 20+ Years
Eldon joined the Navy in 1940 and trained at the Great Lakes Naval Training center. He first served on the USS Lexington - CV2; then the USS Monticello - AP 61; Commandant Ninth Navel District; among other assignments. He served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII; Guam; Navy Recruiting – Indianapolis; USS Magoffin; CCRAK - General Clark's headquarters, Seoul, Korea; and in Yokosuka, Japan. Eldon's last duty station was Fleet Airwing/Taiwan Patrol Force, stationed in Okinawa. He retired from the Navy in 1960.

Not everyone gets to come home for the holidays and we want our Union City High School Military to know that they are loved and appreciated.
