| Favorite School Memory | In 1970-71 is was unheard of for a young woman to become pregnant and continue to go to school, but I did. I went to my prom in 1971 very pregnant, I had my son in August 1971. I tried to go to what was called the Adult Institue to get my diploma but that did not work, so I decided to go back to US Grant to finish my senior year, I had enough credits to go half days to school and work at TG & Y the other half. I prominsed my mom I would get my diploma and I did, I hypenated my name to give props to my family and my husband Denise Campbell Baker. But it was not without some hard times, people back then could be cruel especially when you were not a "Cool kid" to begin with. | About Me | I got married in 1971, had a son and moved to Pennsylvania in 1976 (to take care of my husbands grandfather) for 30 years and moved back in 2006. While in Pennsylvania we lived in a house with no running water, no inside facilities and heated only with a wood stove. I cried for days, grandpa told us he had a lovely 2 bedroom house with a creek running by, neglected to tell is that we only had running water when the creek flooded into the house....we made do, Dennis, my husband, is very resourceful and could do just about anything. We upgraded as time went by but those lean years made us appreciate what we had and what we have now, I really would not change any of it! Now that we are back in Oklahoma City, I work at Integris Cancer Institute of Oklahoma, as a Cancer Registrar. I went to OCCC and OKC/OSU at night for 2 years to take classes to sit for a test become a Certified Tumor Registrar, I did it and am very glad I did.
