About	Obituaries Loretta Carlson-Gevas, Wednesday, August 2, 2006 4:19 PM PDT mother, grandmother A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 at Palms Baptist Church, 5285 Adobe Road, for Loretta Christine Carlson-Gevas, 36, who died July 15, 2006, in McKinleyville after an eight-year battle with cancer. After graduating from Twentynine Palms High School in 1987, she attended Humboldt State University in Northern California, settling in Humboldt County. She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Ray Gevas; children Kristy, Misty, Michael and Adaiah Gevas and Lydia Banks; grandchildren, Cody, Luke and Peter, all of Humboldt County; her parents, Floyd and Loretta Carlson of Twenytnine Palms; her sisters and their families, Laurinda, Ian, Remmington, MacKinley and Beinn Stewart of Twentynine Palms and Kevin Graham of Korea; Lynda and Joe Akey of Morongo Valley and son Joshua Carlson of Tempe, Ariz.; and Shani and Jeff Duncan of Brentwood, Tenn. The church will open at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 for those who would like to write special remembrances of Carlson-Gevas to be shared during the service. A finger-food buffet will follow.
