Daryl L Rupp

Class of 1976

22 years after graduation (1998), I'm married living in Massachusetts. I was running the local town rec basketball league and also the girls Middle School coach (7 and 8th grades). The rec league sign up sheet had some new kids on it with the last name of Tate. Come to find out, they were Todd Tate's kids. Todd is Mr. Tate's youngest son. Todd' oldest son, Matt was in the 8th grade with my daughter, Sarah. They both played hoops on their MS teams and became very good friends. Mr. Tate came out to visit Todd and was able catch some of our games. I was able to visit with the Tate family while he was here and it was a lot of fun. He was very impressed with my girls MS team and noticed I taught them the same 1-2-1-1 half court press he taught the boys jv teams at 29. My girls team kicked butt that year in both school and travel league winning both leagues. I had been coaching them since the second grade and using many of the same drills coach Tate had taught us boys when playing in 29. Right before Mr. Tate left to return home we spent the day watching Superbowl 34 (Rams vs Titans) at Todd's house. Shortly after that Todd's job changed and his family had to move.
