I returned to college as a non-trad (non-traditional student classified as such because I was an adult attending college instead of being right out of high school) in 1996. I attended SUNY College at Potsdam where I earned my BA in Biology/Secondary Education (I double majored). I graduated in 2001 and shortly thereafter took a job with the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Education as a Biology teacher.

I started teaching at Many Farms High School in September of that same year. School was already underway as they start in early August here. I reside in housing on the "compound" with my wife Rebecca and our two dogs Amos and Shamrock. It is quite isolated out here and we must travel at least 2 1/2 hours in two different directions to get to any decent shopping or medical/dental services. I have reached the point where I can retire, but I think I'm going to stay with it for another year or so. We are going through some major changes here in regards to administration and faculty so we will see what develops. I do enjoy my job despite the isolation. My wife and I are looking to retire in the Show Low, Arizona area. The weather is much like Tupper but with not as much snow and freezing temperature and the summer temps average in the mid-80s.
