Lester, although born "out of town" (in Woodland CA), was a true Trinity County native, and very proud of his home town. He thrived at high school, and treasured the lifelong friendships from Weaverville elementary school through high school. He passed away before seeing both his youngest sons, Jud and Jeremy, attend and graduate from his and their mother's (Talie (Johnson) Van Matre) alma mater, Trinity High School, 2001 and 2003, respectively. A proud "wolf" family, indeed.
