Went to school with Tom since about 1st grade, his mom babysat me after school. We used to walk from Junction City Elementary (1 room schoolhouse) to his house, about 5 miles (barefoot, in the snow, uphill both ways). Some days we would stop and catch salmon in Canyon Creek, I would throw rocks to chase them downstream and he would stand in the river and catch them by hand!). His dad would pick us up after work, load the salmon in the truck, and home we would go. Guess they probably don't do that any more...
