Kellly was born on February 15, 1945, the son of Robert and Eileen Loveland. He was a very popular member of the Class of 1963, known for his love of cars and girls. He took over control of the century-old Loveland Lumber Co. in later years. He was unfortunately afflicted with Lou Gehrig disease as he aged. He is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg, Ohio, near the gravesite of his father, Robert.
