The Accomplishments I Have Attained.

I was first inducted into the Neversink FD Ambulance Corps where I served as an EMT for 14 years. During that time I also held the office of Captain, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant twice, and Sergeant. I also assisted the EMT instructor at SCCC in training other other students in the EMT skills. I also was a CPR instructor and a Basic First Aid instructor, and kept 135 employees of the Gershowitz Bus Co. certified in CPR and Basic First aid, and assisted Joanne Dean with teaching a class of Dental Assistants CPR.

When I moved to State College, PA and was a student in nursing school, I saved an 8 yo little girl's life. I had just entered our local Walmart when I heard a woman't voice frantically yelling; "Help! Help! my daughter is choking!. I scanned the area with my eyes and noticed everyone, including the staff unknowingly looking around, so I approached the little girl, got down on my knees behind her, and quietly told her I was going to press hard on her tummy area. She nodded in the affirmative. The first thrust I performed produced no results, so I told her I would have to do the same thing again. After the second thrust, a large yellow gumball popped out of her mouth and rolled under the display case. I quickly turned around and left the building feeling happy I had just saved a little girl's life. The following year I was a nurse preparing myself to keep healthy so I would not have to miss any time at work, when I became a patient. I wound up on the receiving side instead of on the helping side. But I can honestly say I have loved my career choices and was very happy being a bus driver, a volunteer EMT, CPR and Basic First Aid Instructor, and eventually a nurse.

I love people and I love to encourage or help them in whatever way I am able. Even if it is just a card to uplift an ailing or lonely individual. I have learned that it really is more blessed to give than to receive.
