My mother, Doris Mapes, taught English & Speech and Creative Writing at TCHS from 1970-1975 when she was disabled with MS. She had lived with me for the past 17 years, enjoying the grandchildren & great-grandchildren. She rarely complained about her disease, and passed away very suddenly on 11-5-08 at the age of 83.
One thing she DID complain about was teachers who used WRITING as a punishment in their classes, as in hers, she was attempting to instill a love for writing. :) To this day, I miss her wit, candor, and humor.
