Navy, 4 Years
Served in the Navy for 4 years. I fueled aircraft and was stationed on 2 aircraft carriers; USS Oriskany CV-34 and the USS Kitty Hawk CV-63.

National Guard, 20+ Years
Initially enlisted in 1983 in the Colorado Air National Guard as a Cryptographic Repair Technician for 6 years. At the end of my original enlistment period I cross-trained into computer maintenance (electronic digital computer repair) and remained in that career field until I retired in 2005. I had moved to Pennsylvania in 1993, been discharged from the CO ANG and enlisted in the PA ANG. I spent 6 years as a full-time Air Technician with the 112th Air Operations Squadron in State College, PA before moving into the federal civilian sector with the US Army at Fort Lee, VA. A year later (Oct 2005) I officially retired from the ANG with 22 good years of service. In March 2006 the Army sent me to Iraq for 6 months as a civilian - something the ANG had never done. I found that very ironic.
