Tara Starr O'Rourke

Class of 1995

On March 6, 2014, Tara Starr O'Rourke (1995) won the American College of Health Care Administrators Education Award at the District 3 annual meeting in Rising Sun, Indiana.

Tara currently serves as Administrator of ProMedica Goerlich Center for Dementia Care on the campus of Flower Hospital in Sylvania, OH. She holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Recreational Therapy as well as a minor in Psychology and a concentration in Therapeutic Art and also earned a Graduate Certificate in Elder Law. She has served as a part-time instructor for over 13 years at the University of Toledo teaching various therapeutic recreation and therapeutic art related courses. She has also spoken at numerous long-term and dementia care conferences, seminars, and events. She strives to lead her team towards innovative and out-of-the box thinking to ensure the best person-centered care is delivered at the Goerlich Center. She also strives to educate others working with individuals with dementia.

Tara is the daughter of Timothy Starr (1971) and Charlene "Beaver" Bond Starr (1972) and the granddaughter of Doris Payne Starr (1951) and the late Terry Starr (1950). Tara resides in Ottawa Hills, OH with her husband, Matthew and their children, Eliana and Evan.
