Rich moved from Michigan to Arizona in the early 1980's, with his childhood friend John Wojcik, who also graduated from Thurston. He was happily married to his wife Jane and was stepfather to her five children. An Eastern Michigan University graduate, Rich was a much loved husband, stepfather, and successful business person. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and passed away shortly after.
