Ahern, of Riverdale, Ill., senior at University of Illinois, Champaign, Ill., beloved son of Richard C., Sr., and Beatrice; beloved brother of Richard, Jr. [Barbara], Margaret [David] Sullivan of Lubbock, Tex., and Alice [James] Watson. Visitation at Community Mortuary, 14338 Indiana Av., Riverdale, Ill., after 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Tuesday, 9:00 a.m., to Queen of Apostles Church. ARTHUR FRANCIS AHERN
Arthur Francis Ahern of Riverdale, a student at the Univesity of Illinois and recent recipient of the Edmund J. James Scholarship award, died suddenly from spinal meningitis Saturday at the Burnham Hospital in Champaign (Illinois).

Mr. Ahern, who was to be graduated in June, was also a member of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. Upon his graduation, he was to enter the U.S. Marine corps as an officer.

Requiem mass was said by the Reverend Charles Burnikel, Tuesday at Queen of Apostles church. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre cemetery.

Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Ahern of 14524 South Wabash, Riverdale; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Sullivan of Lubbock, Tex.; and Mrs. Alice Watson of Calumet City; and a brother, Richard, Jr. of Riverdale. (Harvey Tribune, 19 April 1973)
