| About Me | After I graduated from high school, I went to x-ray school in Denver. I graduated from that program in 1981 and moved to Dallas with a girlfriend. I worked at Baylor Univ. Med Ctr in Dallas, where I met my husband (we were married in 1985). We lived in Dallas for 10 yrs before moving to Colorado where we began our family. I have two boys--Eric was born in 1995 and Brian was born in 1996. Brian was born with a very rare form of leukemia, which required a bone marrow transplant in hopes of saving his life. Long story short-it took TWO transplants (1st one at 9 mos old, second one at 2 1/2 yrs old), but he survived and is currently (2010) 11 yrs leukemia free! He does have some long term complications, one of them involving his lungs, which is what prompted our move to Omaha, Ne. in 2000 to be at a lower altitude. Omaha is where Brian had both of his transplants at the Univ. of Neb Med Ctr. It made sense for us to relocate here to be close to all his medical specialists from transplant. While I have been very blessed most of my life, the past 14 yrs have definitely had their challenges, and caring for a child with special needs, along with his brother, takes up most of my time.
