Events Paula Davidovich Obituary
Paula Rene Davidovich, aged 73, passed away at home in Orange Park, Florida, surrounded by her loved ones on November 4th, 2023. Born in Uniontown, PA, on July 25, 1950, Paula's journey through life was one marked by dedication, resilience, and an unwavering spirit of service.

Paula was a hard worker, choosing jobs that didn’t follow traditional gender roles. She was a steel mill worker and a Port Authority bus driver, with many jobs in between. A proud member of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 85, Paula devoted many years to her work as a bus driver with the Port Authority. Her commitment to her role went beyond mere duty; she saw it as an opportunity to connect with and serve her community. She also pursued academic excellence, earning an Associate of Arts degree, which highlighted her love for learning and personal growth. Paula was a diligent and dedicated worker who believed anything worth doing was worth doing right the first time.

Paula had two children, Monica Stevens-Alt and Michelle Long, whom she adored immensely. After her divorce, as a single parent, Paula embraced the challenges and financial adversities of raising her two children. She felt proud that her two daughters became productive adults with children of their own.

Paula unconditionally and unselfishly loved her daughters and supported them all her life through the many accomplishments and difficulties of their lives. She often made trips to visit her children and grandchildren wherever they lived at the time to include Jacksonville, NC, Virginia Beach, VA, Ceiba, PR, and Jacksonville, FL. She also acknowledged the blessings of her closest lifelong friends Joyce Bartolomeo and Linda Lewis, who Paula considered her sisters. Their friendship was a testament to Paula’s love and loyalty.

Although Paula did not join a church when she moved to Florida, she was a dedicated Christian who believed in the power of a close relationship with the Lord. Paula ‘attended’ online church every Sunday, did Bible devotionals daily, and occasionally loved listening to traditional hymns. Paula did not need a building to define her relationship with Jesus, nor did she need a building to prove her faithfulness; Paula believed emphatically in loving one another, and it showed in her interactions with all people.

In her free time, she enjoyed traveling across the United States, spending time with friends and family and especially quality time with her Grandchildren: Hope, Marissa, Scott, Aaron “Bear”, Noah, Gabriel, and Caleb. Paula was a young grandma (Nana/Nan as many of her grands affectionately called her) so she often gave her grandchildren solid, life advice rather than spoiling them with candies or unnecessary trinkets. Her great-grandchildren: James, Bella, Presley, Camden, and Daisy were a different story; these babies she proudly doted over and spoiled every chance she got. They will grow up hearing stories inspired by her strength, kindness, and generosity.

When she did splurge on herself, she could be found at the Meadows or any establishment that had “the machines;” light gambling was her guilty pleasure. It has been said (and her daughters agree that it is true) that Paula was unselfish to a fault, often neglecting the needs of herself for the needs and well-being of her many friends and family, especially her daughters.

She is survived by her daughters Monica and Michelle; Son-in-law Brandon Alt; Grandchildren Hope, Marissa and husband Cody, Scotty and wife Amber, Aaron “Bear”, Noah, Gabriel, and Caleb, as well as Great-grandchildren James, Bella, Presley, Camden, Daisy and Penelope.

At her request of her final wishes, there will be no funeral, but her daughters will hold a celebration of life to honor the loving, hardworking, loyal, unselfish mother and friend that was Paula on Wednesday, December 20th at 2PM at the Jacksonville Memory Gardens, with a reception to follow. Her vibrant spirit, marked by her commitment to her family, her work, and her union, will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew her
