About | Debbie DePollo, 69, of Kingsport, went to be with God and her loving family in heaven on Sunday, April 26, 2020, after a brave five-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. She was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on July 29, 1950. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and June Schumann; brother, Leslie Schumann; and step-mother, Ruth DePollo Schumann. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Michael DePollo, Sr.; daughter, Dana Bellino and husband, Dan; son, Michael DePollo, Jr. and wife, Vita; three grandchildren, Joseph Michael, Aidan, and Micah Bellino; three brothers, Glenn I. Schumann and wife, Elaine, Tim Schumann, and Mark DePollo and wife, Claudia; one sister, Loretta James and husband, Tony; numerous nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. Debbie was an amazing wife, mother, and Grammy; her three grandsons were the absolute sunshine in her life. She was a devoted member of Saint Dominic Catholic Church. Debbie’s passion was the education of children, to which she dedicated her life. She received a doctoral level educational administration certificate in 2001 from East Tennessee State University, and a master’s degree in early childhood education in 1994. After 26 years of loving service and dedication, she retired from Saint Dominic Catholic School in 2014. She first served as a preschool teacher, then became the administrator of the Child Development Center, and finally enjoyed 17 years as the school’s principal. In addition to educating children, Debbie enjoyed planting flowers, watching birds, and reading a variety of books (especially a good mystery). In life, she was always consistently fair, genuine, and a great listener. Debbie will be remembered as a patient, kind, loving, generous person with a huge heart, always sharing a warm smile. Due to COVID-19, there will be a Memorial Mass/Celebration of Life scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Dominic Catholic School, 1474 East Center Street, Kingsport, TN 37664, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. |
