Stacy Lewis

LPGA Tour golfer, 2013 Women's British Open champion[56]

What is Stacy Lewis known for?

Stacy Lewis, an acclaimed American professional golfer, was born on February 16, 1985, in Toledo, Ohio. She relocated to Texas at a young age, residing in The Woodlands, a community just outside Houston, and graduated from The Woodlands High School in 2003.

Despite a scoliosis diagnosis at age 11, which required a spinal fusion in high school, Lewis remained focused on golf. Her first collegiate season was delayed due to recovery from the surgery, yet she quickly made up for lost time. As a decorated amateur and a four-time All-American at the University of Arkansas, she enjoyed a successful college career, winning the Southeastern Conference Tournament, the NCAA Division I Championship, and receiving prestigious awards like the Golf Digest Amateur of the Year and the Dinah Shore Trophy.

Turning professional in 2008, Lewis joined the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour a year later. Throughout her professional career, she recorded 14 victories, significantly on the LPGA Tour itself, winning 13 times, and once on the LPGA of Japan Tour. Notably, she won two major championships: the Kraft Nabisco Championship in 2011 and the Women's British Open in 2013.

Lewis was ranked number one in the Women's World Golf Rankings for four weeks in 2013, and reclaimed the position in June 2014 for another 21 weeks after a victory at the ShopRite LPGA Classic. Her accolades also include being decorated as the LPGA Player of the Year in 2012 and 2014, the Female Player of the Year in 2012 and 2014, and receiving the LPGA Vare Trophy in 2013 and 2014.
