Born on September 26, 1974 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Lawrence Alexander Izzo, or Larry Izzo, is an American football coach and former player who is recognized for his contributions as a linebacker and special teams player. He attended The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, Texas, where he demonstrated his skills early on by leading his team in rushing yards and touchdowns during his senior year.

After high school, Izzo attended Rice University where he was a standout four-year letterman. He left an indelible mark at Rice, finishing fourth on the school's all-time tackles list and setting a school-record 46 tackles for losses.

Despite going undrafted in the 1996 NFL Draft, Izzo found success in the NFL, beginning his professional career with the Miami Dolphins. Other notable stints were with the New England Patriots and the New York Jets. As a player, he was a three-time Super Bowl champion and was selected for the Pro Bowl three times. His excellent performance throughout his professional career earned him a spot in the New England Patriots All-2000s Team and All-Dynasty Team.
