What is Jeff Maggert known for?

Jeffrey Allan Maggert was born on February 20, 1964, in Columbia, Missouri. Raised in The Woodlands, Texas, he attended The Woodlands High School, where he was nurtured on a golf course. He continued his education at Texas A&M University, thriving on the golf team as an All-American member.

Turning professional in 1986, Maggert tasted his initial success overseas, bagging the 1989 Malaysian Open on the Asia Golf Circuit and the 1990 Vines Classic on the Australian Tour. His commendable performance on the Ben Hogan Tour (now the Korn Ferry Tour), where he won two tournaments and was named Player of the Year in 1990, earned him a spot on the PGA Tour in 1991.

Throughout his career, Maggert secured a total of 19 professional wins. He clinched three victories on the PGA Tour, one on the European Tour, one on the PGA Tour of Australasia, two on the Korn Ferry Tour, and six on the PGA Tour Champions, with the rest accounted for by other tours. His skills on the green led him to represent the United States in the Ryder Cup three times and in the Presidents Cup once.

Maggert achieved his highest world golf ranking, 14th, on May 30, 1999. He also performed impressively in the major championships, securing the 5th place in the 2003 Masters Tournament and 3rd place in both the 1995 and 1997 PGA Championships, and the 2002 and 2004 U.S. Opens.

In the Senior career chapter of his life, Maggert debuted on the Champions Tour in March 2014, winning the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic and becoming the 17th player to achieve a debut victory. His maiden senior major championship came in May 2015, when he won the Regions Tradition, his second Champions Tour event.

Throughout highs and lows, Maggert remained devoted to golf, his journey from aspiring amateur to accomplished professional golfer serving as an inspiration to many who dream of following in his footsteps.
