Joined the Army on January 10, 1962 on the buddy system with Roy Conopask. The buddy system allows you to serve with the friend you enlist with. When we got off the train at Wrightstown, NJ, and caught the military bus to Fort Dix, we never saw each other in the service again. It sure was nice to see my buddy Roy again this year at the 50th class reunion.

The Army wanted to draft me and on my 21st Birthday I had my preinduction physical so instead ot getting drafted I decided to enlist in the USAF. Did basic training at Lackland, then off to Biloxi, Miss for electronic training. After tech school I got stationed at the Miles City Air Force Station in Miles City, Montana. I got out of the USAF after a honorable discharge and not too long after becoming a civilian, I decided to go back into the Air Force but had to do a tour in Vietnam. Decided to remain a civilian. The military taught me to say Sir, Sir and more Sirs. Have tried to get in touch with several Air Force buddies and have done so with three of them.
