Alumni Stories
George E. Lampron
Class of 1950
Retired BioMedical Engineer and FAA Quality Control, Design Test Engineer and Program Manager.
The Military section herein turned on the old memory banks.
1. Danny Huria and I joined the Bristol Company L, 43rd Division I at age 15 Danny a year younger (1947)
2. Becker class of 33 was with my cousin Henry Heroux, Watertown, in New Guinea and the Philipines--the Japanese on New Guinea we left to die by their Army so they killed Americans for food. Henry lived for 3 years in the Jungles with Jungle rot--a parasite down to the bone.
Emerick (Jimmy) Kozma was 2 years older than most of us he was class President 3 years. He, Joey Jay (son of Coach Jay) and I tried to join the Marines in 1950--I weighed 118 too light--so we joined the Navy---I was Naval Air, Joey was Dental Assistant, Jimmy was ship Electrician--I spent my last year aboard the USS Yorktown with VF 154 a fighter Squadron and Jimmy kept the Electrical systems of the ship going. We did Liberty together a couple of times--but my best friend and I were no longer the same kids we were in old (really old 1898) THS. I saw him again in 1955 before he departed for Idaho---he died in New Mexico in 2000. Some of his old class never knew Jimmy Kozma, a Hungarian born American as Emerick
I spent 3 months in a Naval hospital in 1951 with a lot of 18 year old Marines from the Frozen Chozen--they paid a terrible price to protect and serve. Semper Fi--all Marines--Semper Fi.
The Internet taught me the great Town we lived in--Terryville (you call it Plymouth) loads of history, Yankee hero, the clock industry, the lock industry.
I have lived below and west of the Mason Dixon Line for 40 or more years great people here--but the heart feels strong for my roots.
