Darrell's family were my next door neighbors. He loved sports and was involved in Little League Baseball each year. Additionally, he would always get a neighborhood game of baseball going with anyone willing to play.
Darrell joined the Navy after graduation. He died at sea in an accident aboard ship in late 1973. His sister, Mary Helen, and I were students at Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky, at the time. It was such a sad time for all who knew Darrell and his family.
