Fred Kidd

Class of 1975

I was very involved while in high school with the national election campaign of then President Gerald Ford. Starting out licking envelopes, I progressed up the line in the campaign to become the head of the youth committee for the republican party of Fayette County and then was promoted to precent chairman for Landsdown. I traveled to Louisville to meet the president on board Air Force One and was presented an award by President Ford and appointed to his national election committee. I was the youngest person at that time ever appointed to that committee.

After Graduating high school in 1975, I attended the University of Kentucky with a major in psychology. In 1995 I graduated from the Louisville Technical Institute with a degree in Interior Design and Historical Restoration. I was well known in the central Kentucky area for event planning and staging.

Some of my former clients:

Bobbie Brown - of Bobbie Brown Cosmetics
Marie Gray – Owner of St. John Woman’s Apparel
Lt. Gov. Steve Beshear
St. John 2001 Fall Fashion Show Benefit attended by Mary and Kelly Gray ($275 per plate)
Loretta Lynn
Lee Majors

I have lectured at Kentucky State University and taught design through Jefferson, Fayette, and Franklin County Boards of Education for over fifteen years. Selling my interior design business in 2001 I moved to Frankfort, KY after getting married and accepted the position of Director for Franklin County Community Education. This program included classes such as basket making, pottery and line dancing as well as the Literacy and GED Programs. My program was honored with a citation from the governor and state senate for our work with people who was at risk of dropping out of school as well as our promotion for community education and GED program. We had a 85% graduation rate.

My spouse and I retired in 2008 and at that time moved to Irmo, S.C. And opening a small design business called, “Classic Tradition Interiors”.
