Mickey, as we all know him is a wonderful example of someone that used what he learned in school to become a contributing member of society. Mickey did not come from a wealthy family but he was blessed with a family that loved and looked up to him as someone to emulate and turn to in time of need. Mickey had a wonderful mother that loved him dearly and was willing to sacrifice so that he could further his education and reap the rewards of hard work.

He started selling yellow page ads for Carolina Telephone as one of his first jobs. He worked his way up through the ranks and achieved higher positions with the company.

He became CEO of Star Telephone company until his retirement. After retirement from Star, Buggs Island Telephone Company lured him out of retirement to become CEO for them until he retired from there.

This is just a little of what Mickey has achieved through hard work, dedication by using what his Tarboro High Schools teachers taught him.
