| Favorite School Memory | I'd have to choose between either the final exam in Dr. Godfrey's Drama Class (it was a great performance), or breaking the headlight of my dad's Caddy on prom night. |
| About Me | I feel like I've come such a long way since my 4 years at Tallwood. I'm certain a good number of teachers thought I'd never make it this far, but like I stated in my year book quote, "I will succeed." That wasn't just a mantra, but more a promise. A promise to my parents. A promise to my teachers and friends. But, most importantly a promise to myself. It wasn't more than a few months after graduation I decided to enlist in the military. I joined the USAF through delayed enlistment in October 1999, and shipped off to basic training, February 2, 2000. I spent 4 years serving as an avionics technician on the F-16 fighter platform. Spending time touring the globe, I served in Utah, South Korea, and Arizona, with a tour through Spain, Egypt and supported pilot training for Red Flag hosted at Nellis AFB. I was among the first deployed after September 11, 2001 and was honorably discharged in 2004 after earning the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5). Shortly after signing my discharge papers, I headed off to Washington State to live with my best friend from childhood to begin my college education. Prior to starting my classwork, I worked at Thales Avionics repairing communication and navigation equipment for commercial aircraft. In 2006 I began working towards my degree at Bellevue Community College, and in 2007 on a trip to Las Vegas with the "guys," I met a lovely woman who, some five years later, would become my wife. I transferred to the University of Washington in 2008 with aspirations of becoming an architect; however, due to a decline in the industry as a result of the recession, I chose to graduate with my degree in art history in 2010, rather than hold out for the market to improve. Upon graduation, I worked as a contractor for Boeing for two years in a training capacity. As an assessor for mechanics who were demonstrating their competency in order to maintain their production certification, it was my role to ensure they lived up to the standards set forth by Boeing and the FAA. I proposed to my wife Valentine's Day 2011 and we married just over a year later, May 21, 2012 in Charleston, SC. It was a small gathering of close family and friends on a historic plantation on the Charleston peninsula, just off the Ashely River. Toward the end of the same year, I started my career with Boeing as a production test technician, only to be faced with a layoff 6 months into my employment. As if destined to land on my feet, I began my current role at Boeing as a Manufacturing Operations Analyst, in which I use my years of experience in the industry to network and coordinate processes and actions to keep the production line and deliveries moving. In 2014 I received a promotion in the same field and relocated the wife, myself and our kitten, Freya, to Charleston where I now work on the 787 delivery flight line. Currently, my wife and I live in the West Ashley area of Charleston, SC in our first house, located near the historic plantation district. I still hold out aspirations to return to school and earn my Masters Degree in architecture, but in the mean time, I'm enjoying being back in the ...(read more) |
