continuing my first memory: Stewart Junior High. There were several good friends from that time -- Betty Stang Nicodemus, Susan Halter Hooker, Rachel Clark Mehl, Gail Salmon Ginther. Joyce was in band with me from 7th grade until 12th. All of us have kept in touch and sometimes get together at a restaurant -- we just pick up our conversations as if years haven't separated us .I forgot to mention Joyce' children: Carol., Paul, Marjory, Sarah, and Rachel

Joyce Walther was an amazing, calm, peaceful person. She did not go to college because she got married and started having children, but her abilities were never wasted. She kept a good kitchen, did lots of canning/freezing things from the garden, and was active in her church. She was so intelligent and clever; but we didn't get together too much after she moved to Indiana, She died during a second knee repair -- she had endured 4 or 5 weeks of the first knee replacement being removed and the leg that was left open to healing before the surgery could be approved. She was supposed to be getting a simple surgery done before the knee was replaced, but in the midst of the surgery, her oxygen levels dropped ,and she never woke up. She was one of my friends from Stewart Junior
