I remember Ray and Cynthia Bowers very well. She was a friend of my sister Lynda Widdoss. Ray and I shared a room in Yankton on a Episcopal Church trip ...I believe in about 1961 or so... if memory serves me correctly. Both kids were from a first rate family in Pierre. I also remember when Ray and Judy were dating when we were all in high school. Judy lived across the street from Bill Thomas. My condolences to their families.!! Life is so darn short and some of the conditions we have to endure...especially as we get older...make you wonder why life is designed this way. About one-third of my class of 1963 has passed. Unfortunately... we all take our turn at going over the Great Divide from this tiny planet in this huge universe. Hopefully..the other side is as good as we are led to believe!! Regards! Cindy I just happened to come across this notice the other day while scrolling thru class of 65 notices..I'm so very sorry to hear this and you have my sincere condolences....i lost my only brother Eugene 3 years ago at Christmas time 2020 ..He had a terrible battle with bladder cancer. I was honored to be his caregiver in home hospice for the 5 months before he passed .....how sad an announcement like this should connect us but I'd love to talk with you or catch up in some way. Ray was my brother. He had severe medical issues for several years. He had just moved from Minnesota to Dallas,Texas on June 29, 2022. His older daughter, Jennifer Bowers Smith, lives in Dallas and I, Cynthia Bowers Avery, live in Lewisville, TX just north of Dallas. Ray was very ill and spent much of his time in the hospital. He had his 78th birthday on August 14th and died 6 days later in hospice. His wife, Judymae Dixon Bowers, died in March of 2022, just 5 months before Ray passed. They were married 56 years. They are both buried at Riverside Cemetery in Pierre near our maternal grandparents, Raymond and Zedna Cooke.
