Vic briefly joined the Navy following high school, then attended tech school in Moose Jaw for drafting. He spent much of his adult life in Edmonton working as a sprinkler designer. Married and divorced, he had two step-children.
A skilled and avid pool player, Vic played league pool for many years. He returned to Swift Current after he retired.
