23 years sea service on 10 vessels: Visual Signalman on USS Mt. McKinley AGC-7, USS LSMR-412, Transport Division 52 Afloat Staff and USS Whitemarsh LSD-8, Navigation Team on USS Anchorage LSD-36, Navigator on USS Reaper MSO-467 and USS Excel MSO-439, Navigation Division Officer on USS Mauna Kea AE-22, USS Wichita AOR-1, USS McClusky FFG-41 and USS Fort Fisher LSD-40.
Shore Duty: Personnel Officer at DATC - FMAG, Alameda CA, San Francisco Bay Area Battle Training Tracker, Surviver Swimmer Training Coordinator, Ship Maintenance Management Inspector and Navigation Inspector at Service Group One, Oakland, CA and Transition Team Command Master Chief, Base Energy Conservation Officer and NavOSH Team member at Seattle and Everett WA.
Earned 43 service medals, ribbons and specialty devices and several service excellence citations.

Arrived boot camp in San Diego, CA July 7 1972. After boot camp assigned to USS Francis Hammond DE-1067. Did one West-PAC. Visited Pearl Harbor, Subic Bay, Hong Kong, Guam, Thailand,
Sydney, Australia, Auckland, New Zealand. I then cross rated to the Seabees. Went "A" school in Port Hueneme, Ca. Was then assigned to USNMCB-5 two deployments while with this unit. Puerto Rico and Diego Garcia.
Made E-4 PNA ( passed not advanced) E-5. Discharged July 6, 1976

First two years in the fleet. Deployed on one West Pac. This involved patrolls on the Gulf of Tonkin off the coast of Vietnam Ship was the USS Francis Hammond DE-1067.
Second two years was with the Seabees. This unit was USNMCB- 5 Deployed to Porto Rico, and Diego Garcia. Then two years in the naval reserve

Received an ROTC scholarship at Oregon Institute of Technology, commissioned as a 2LT upon graduation. Served 8 years on active duty graduating from Airborne, Air Assault, and Ranger School. During that time was with the 101st Airborne Division during Desert Shield/Storm in '90/'91 and two years in South Korea. Currently in the Army Reserves and served in Afghanistan in 2002 and Iraq in 2008. Currently holds a Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and is the rank of Colonel commanding a unit located in Fort Jackson, SC.

Served 20yrs all on the east coast out of Norfolk Va. Primarily overseas in the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf. Arrived to the USS Cole the day after it got Bombed in Yemen to assist in recovery efforts.
