| About Me | After graduation, I headed back east to attend Goddard College in Vermont. Majored in Elementary Education and taught first grade straight out of college. Moved to Burlington, VT so I could return to writing and publishing, pursuits that began as a staff reporter and page editor with the Sunset Scroll. My first paying job in journalism was with an arts & entertainment weekly. The second was being tapped to write concert reviews for the Burlington Free Press. This "hobby gig" began when I was 28 and remains in place today. Recent reviews have included Diana Krall, Herbie Hancock and Chicago. Being a writer -- but enjoying marketing and business as well -- I launched Paul Kaza Associates, a marketing communications firm, in 1981. It has been in continual operation for 30 years, with a satellite office in Vancouver, Washington opened in 2011. I was married in 1978, and had two children along the way. My son completed four years in the Air Force and is now living in Vermont, working in landscaping and retail environments. My daughter graduated from Columbia College in 2007 and is now the Director of Marketing for The Chicago Reader, the city's leading weekly. I have married for a second time to Karen Adams, also a Sunset Class of '69 graduate. Our wedding took place on October 22, 2011 at the Academy Chapel in Vancouver, Washington with many Sunset classmates in attendance -- including two other married couples from the Class of '69.
